EU Citizens Dialogue and Empower EU Awards Ceremony

Our board members attended the EU Delegation in the UK’s EU Citizen’s Gathering and Empower EU Awards Ceremony where YEM UK were awarded the ‘Youth Champions’ award.
EU UK Youth Dialogue
November 2024
Our president spoke on a panel discussion ‘Setting the Youth Agenda: A Deal for Young People and Future Generations’ about our ‘Break the Silence to End the Violence’ campaign at the EU Delegation in the UK’s Youth Dialogue 2024 event at the london School of economics. Our Youth Engagement officer, Madeleina Kay and our Vice-president Dorothy Herson also participated in the event on 6th-7th November at the London School of Economics.
Labour Youth Summer School
September 2024
Our Vice-President Dorothy Herson joined a panel at the Labour Youth’s Summer School, Dublin on gender-based violence, highlighting its pervasive impact and the urgent need for systemic change. Dorothy spoke alongside Sean Cooke from the Mens Network and Senator Annie Hoey (Labour), who also shared valuable insights on breaking the chains of violence and fostering safer communities.
National March for Rejoin III

Our President, Cecilia Jastrzembska, and Youth Engagement Officer, Madeleina Kay both spoke at the National March for Rejoin III in London.
Labour Party Conference

Our President, Cecilia Jastrzembska attended the Labour Party conference , 22nd-25th September in Liverpool – meeting with Hillary Benn, Dr Charles Grant and Robert O’Donnell, and attending the EU Delegation in the UK panel discussion event.
European Movement’s Operation Reset
September 2024
Our President, Cecilia Jastrzembska, joined Mike Galsworthy, Chair of European Movement UK, Barbara Callender, EM National Executive, Dr Charles Grant, Chair of Wales for Europe and David Clarke, Chair of European Movement in Scotland to hand in a petition with 30,000 signatures to emphasise the need for meaningful progress on resetting our relationship with the European Union.

Our Youth Engagement Officer, Madeleina Kay, attended the Green Party conference in Manchester and spoke at the European Movement’s Fringe Event. The panel discussion which focused on Youth Mobility, was chaired by Molly Scott-Cato, former Green Party MEP and Senior Vice Chair of the European Movement UK.
SNP Conference

Our Youth Engagement Officer, Madeleina Kay, joined European Movement in Scotland’s stall at the SNP conference in Edinburgh to engage young Scots with YEM’s activities. We were delighted to meet Stephen Gethins MP, Ben MacPherson MSP and Kate Forbes Deputy First Minister.
50:50 Parliament

Our President Cecilia Jastrzembska, attended an event at the Houses of Parliament, organised by the 50:50 Parliament campaign, Chamber UK and Curia to celebrate the election of 264 women MPs (41%) in the new Parliament, including the first female Chancellor.
Diasporas Unite for Cyprus

At the Cypriot High Commission, our President Cecilia Jastrzembska joined Consul General Odysseas Odysseos and international leaders from 20 different countries at NEPOMAK – Connecting Young Cypriots’ event “Diasporas Unite For Cyprus”, marking 50 years since the invasion of Cyprus.
Let’s Get Political Seminar

Our Head of Policy and Political Engagement, Leah Rea, represented YEM at the Council of Europe’s “Let’s Get Political” seminar, discussing barriers to youth participation in UK democracy and highlighting the need for intersectional approaches.
Council of Europe 75th Anniversary

To mark the Belgian Presidency of the Council of European Union and the CoE’s 75th anniversary, our President, Cecilia Jastrzembska, and Vice-President, Dorothy Herson, attended an event at Flanders House.
Europe Day Festival

YEM Board members also attended the EU Delegation reception with Ambassador Pedro Serrano and ran a stand at the Europe Day Festival, celebrating internationalism.
YEM UK AGM

YEM UK held our 2024 AGM, an opportunity to bring together our community of members, reflect on our achievements in the last year and discuss our priorities for the next year. We also held our board elections where our members elected our majority female board.
Erasmus+ Academy, London

YEM UK was delighted to welcome participants from across the UK to London for its Erasmus+ Academy, a political bootcamp designed to connect like-minded young pro-Europeans and provide them with a toolkit of skills to run an effective political campaign.
Glasgow Summer Social

YEM UK was delighted to host the 2023 Summer Social in Glasgow City Chambers, where our members participated in an array of political and social activities. The event saw speeches from Kaukab Stewart (Member of Scottish Parliament), Councillor Declan Blench, David McDonald from European Movement in Scotland and more.
Roundtable Discussion

YEM UK, in partnership with European Movement UK and the British Youth Council, hosted a Roundtable Discussion in the Portcullis House, Westminster to discuss the future relationship between the UK and the EU in the areas of student exchange, education, training and youth work.
