Call for Nominations – YEM executive Committee 2026-27

Young European Movement members can submit their nomination for a position on the 2026-27 Executive Committee until Monday 23rd March. Candidates must have signed up for membership of YEM by Wednesday 11th March in order to be eligible to stand for election to the YEM board. All candidates should be prepared to make the necessary time commitment to undertake their role and are expected to attend fortnightly board meetings. Below are the available positions and detailed role descriptions, members can submit their nominations until Monday 23rd March through this Google Form. Role Descriptions:

  1. President

The role of the President is to lead the YEM UK Executive Committee to deliver on our organisational objectives. They must oversee all workflows and support members of the Executive Committee in their tasks. They write and revise YEM’s constitution and internal policy documents alongside the Head of Policy. The President must be able to travel to represent YEM at public events and attend internal meetings of our parent organisation, European Movement UK. The President should pursue opportunities to promote YEM’s campaigns and membership through public platforms, media opportunities and partnerships with stakeholders. The President works closely with all members of the Executive and the Youth Engagement Officer of European Movement UK.

  1. Head of Finance

The role of the Head of Finance is to ensure responsible management of YEM’s finances and secure additional funding streams. They must write the annual budget, process expense claims and ensure expenditure is kept within the approved budget. They should look for opportunities to increase YEM’s financial income through funding applications and support the writing of funding bids. They should work with the Head of Branches and Sponsorships to support our sponsorship of partners, and with the Head of Events to plan costings for our events.

  1. Head of Events

The role of the Head of Events is to plan and deliver a programme of events to support YEM’s objectives. They are responsible for organising all logistical elements of both online and offline events, including writing copy to promote the events, contacting speakers, booking venues and pursuing event partnerships. They should work closely with the Head of Branches and Sponsorships to organise national, regional and local events.

  1. Head of International Partnerships

The role of the Head of International Partnerships is to represent YEM at international events and meetings organised by our partner organisation, Young European Federalists (JEF). They must be able to travel internationally and willing to attend organisational meetings with JEF, as well as supporting YEM members to participate in JEF events and campaigns. They should also pursue opportunities to secure funding to organise collaborative events with our international partners. 

  1. Head of Diversity

The role of the Head of Diversity is to ensure that YEM is delivering on our commitment to Equality, Diversity & Inclusion. They are responsible for supporting members who have additional needs or protected characteristics, to ensure they can fully participate in YEM’s campaigns, activities and events. They should liaise with European Movement UK’s Misconduct Committee in the instance that any conflicts arise, and ideally they should sit on European Movement UK’s Diversity Committee. They should write copy and plan social media content with the Head of Social Media to mark awareness days and religious holidays. They should lead on campaigns that support YEM to be more inclusive of a diverse membership, as well as supporting events to ensure they are representative of diverse perspectives. 

  1. Head of Policy and Political Engagement

The role of the Head of Policy and Political Engagement is to oversee the development and implementation of both YEM’s internal policy frameworks and external policy positions. They will oversee the operation of YEM’s constitution and internal policy documents alongside the President, to support the efficient and responsible management of the organisation. They also help to define the political priorities and policy demands of our positions including campaigns, as well assisting with YEM’s reactive positions in response to current affairs and political developments. They should be confident with monitoring current affairs and assist in producing statements for social media copy in response to breaking news and political developments.

  1. Head of Communications

The role of the Head of Communications is to write YEM’s communications strategy and co-ordinate the communications work flows. They lead our online marketing activities, including planning and creating social media advertisements and writing newsletter copy, to fundraise and recruit new members. They are responsible for writing our newsletter copy and campaign literature. They should work closely with the Head of Social Media, Head of Policy and Political Engagement, Head of Brand Identity and Head of Diversity to deliver the communications strategy.

  1. Head of Social Media

The role of the Head of Social Media is to produce engaging content for our social media channels and driving growth across platforms. They must manage YEM’s accounts across platforms (LinkedIN, Instagram, Tiktok, Facebook and Bluesky), creating and posting engaging content, with a focus on video content for our audience. They should respond to notifications and messages in a timely manner and pursue opportunities for collaborations with external actors. They must promote YEM’s events beforehand and produce posts and reels to document events afterwards. They work with the Head of Diversity to mark awareness days and religious holidays, with the Head of Brand Identity to design visually engaging content, and with the Head of Policy and Political Engagement to post updates and timely responses to current affairs. They should have experience in visual design, video editing and running social media accounts. 

  1. Head of Brand Identity

The role of the Head of Brand Identity is to manage YEM’s visual identity, create graphical content and support the Head of Social Media in creating engaging social media content. They are responsible for the design of YEM’s website and managing and updating the website content. They work closely with the Head of Communications and Head of Social Media, to design YEM’s campaign literature and create graphics for use on our social media, working with the Head of Social Media to create posts. They should have experience in visual design and ideally knowledge of Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.

  1. Head of Branches and Sponsorships

    The role of the Head of Branches and Sponsorships is to co-ordinate and develop our branches. They must support the organisation of events and campaigns of our existing branches, as well as the setting up of new branches. They are the branches’ point of contact with the Executive Committee and they should be available to attend branch AGMs and organisational meetings. They are also responsible for building relationships with partner organisations to manage our sponsorships.
